Two of my favorite things: Books and Food. And while I often find myself so engrossed in a novel that I forget to eat, treats can actually enhance the experience. Just be sure not to turn the pages with sticky fingers!

The Book and Food Pairings of Your Dreams

1. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and cookies!

The Covey girls love to bake together, especially for their Christmas Cookie Bonanza. Try your hand at one of the recipes included in the back of the book and prepare yourself for alllllll of the heart feels! And then make another batch and watch the movie adaptation on Netflix J

2. Starry Eyes and s’mores!

There is one camping food that tops them all and that, my friends, is s’mores. It’s the perfect balance of melty chocolate, ooey gooey marshmallow, and crunchy graham cracker! Make yourself one of these and settle in for a night under the stars with Zorie and Lenon.

3. City of Bones and Chinese food!

The New York werewolf den is glamoured to look like The Jade Wolf Restaurant. They even have a working phone line! Grab a combination platter from your favorite Chinese place and settle in for a wild ride!

4. The Last Magician and a freshly made baguette!

Many of the Devil’s Own wind up in Tilly’s kitchen by day’s end to soothe their ailments. There’s nothing quite like the scent of freshly baked bread or that crazy delicious warmth of your first bite to transport you back in time!

5. Stay Sweet and ice cream!

Okay, I know, obvious choice but I mean, can you really complain about enjoying some delicious Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough while devouring this wonderfully sweet book?

6. The Education of Margot Sanchez and arroz con gandules (rice and beans)!

A staple of the Bronx neighborhood where Margot lives, you’ll be channeling some seriously authentic vibes and feel like you’re actually in the book with her.

7. The Wicked Deep and a lobster roll!

Did someone say harbor town? If there’s one thing that pairs perfectly with salty, rain-soaked streets it’s a buttery soft lobster roll.

Sometimes the best people are the most awkward ones. These characters will make you laugh AND cringe with secondhand embarrassment. We love them anyway!

6 Awkward Characters That We Seriously Relate To

1. Chloe from The Year of Living Awkwardly by Emma Chastain

Ok, this one is obvious since it’s in the title but c’mon, could sophomore year get any more awkward? The answer is always yes because as soon as Chloe’s dad starts dating one of her teachers, I covered my face in embarrassment. Can you imagine???

2. Beck and Jaxon from Social Intercourse by Greg Howard

Clearly, author Greg Howard can imagine because he takes the awkwardness to a new level in Social Intercourse when Beck’s emotionally fragile dad stars dating the recently single (and supposedly lesbian) mom of his former bully, Jaxon. I wanted to hide behind a pillow while I watched this one unfold!

3. Lara Jean from To All The Boy I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

Imagine your deepest, darkest secret crush all simultaneously finding out, IN DETAIL, how madly in love with them you were/are. Now multiply that by 5 and you’ll be FREAKING OUT just as much as Lara Jean.

4. Penny Lee and Sam from Emergency Contact by Mary H. K. Choi

If you can’t have a prolonged conversation with someone IRL, I think you immediately qualify as awkward. Since both of our protagonists pretty much leave and breathe texting, I’d say they’re definitely in the running for King and Queen Awkward.

 5. Rishi from When Dimple met Rishi by

Note to self: Never go up to someone you’re interested in and greet them with “Hello, future spouse!” It’s awkward even if you know them and exponentially more awkward if you don’t. Oh, Rishi…

 6. Simon from City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Simon, Simon, Simon…He’s that friend that’ll do something incredibly awkward and embarrassing and you can’t help but giggle at them because they are completely unaware of just how awkward (and endearing!) they are! Everyone needs one of those friends.

We may be bibliophiles but we’re also people of varied interests! So this list is for all of you movie and film lovers out there. Take a look at the list below to see some of the amazing ways in which your passions converge!

4. Saints and Misfits by S.K. Ali
