Carmen from @TheBookFeels received an ARC of Lady Midnight, and with it came a beautiful “Shadowhunters Guide to Los Angeles” map! Inspired by the map, she created this Shadowhunters guide to LA.

A Shadowhunters Guide to Los Angeles

The Shadowhunters Map of Los Angeles:

Location #4: Canter’s Deli

While I was taking this photo… I could literally smell the food!! It was making me extremely hungry to say the least!

The characters in the book love going here, and it has been a location where Emma’s parents have taken her when she was a little girl.

Address: 419 N Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036

Location #5: The Shadow Market (Kendall Alley)

He walked down Kendall Alley through Old Town Pasadena toward a blank brick wall—and stepped through it into an explosive world of color and light.”

The Shadow Market takes place on Kendall Alley in Old Town Pasadena. While it may not look like the photo upon the map, “mundanes” aren’t really supposed to be able to see everything unless they have the sight. The Shadow Market is a pretty big location in the book and I can’t imagine how cool it would look like with all the shops around!

Address: 43 E Union St, Pasadena, CA  91103 (It’s to the right of the Fish Grill)

Location #7: Poseidon’s Trident (Neptune’s Net)

I was searching everywhere for this location! It’s called Poseidon’s Trident in the book, but turns out its actually called Neptune’s Net! You just walk in and find your seat! Plus, the view behind me while I took the pictures is absolutely STUNNING. Talk about huge blue waves and a nice beach.

Address: 42505 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265

Location #8: Midnight Theater

IMG_3401

I googled an unlimited amount of theaters in the Hollywood area, and couldn’t come up with one that specifically matched the location and photo of the Midnight Theater. After I read that part in the book, turns out its a theater for plays… not movies! So that helped narrow it down!

Address:  6233 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028

Location #9: The Convergence (Point Mugu Rock)

Point Mugu Rock is stunning. I didn’t have much of a location to go off of, but I couldn’t help but notice this location looks very similar! There is part of it that is gated off, so don’t go in there unless you have your invisibility rune on. 😉

Address: 799 Pacific Coast Hwy, NAS Point Mugu, CA 93042

Location #10: Santa Monica Pier

This location was actually the first time I had the idea of taking the photos! I’ve gone to the Santa Monica Pier numerous times, and enjoy it very much! There’s a ton of shops along the pier, as well as cute carnival games and rides to enjoy. Plus, when you’re done walking around, you can head down to the beach for some nice relaxing time in the sun!

Address: 200 Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica, CA 90401

Final Thoughts:

Being a fictional book, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to find every location on the map. I tried so hard to find the L.A. Institute, even drove a span of 20 miles to find it, but was ultimately unsuccessful. The other locations were homes of the characters, so I figured those would be pretty impossible to locate as well.

The locations on the map I tried to find but was unable to:

  • Location #1: Malcolm Fade’s House
  • Location #2: Johnny Rook’s House
  • Location #3: The L.A. Institute
  • Location #6: The Sepulchre Bar
