I LOVE getting book recs from TikTok. After hours of careful curation (aka watching way too many videos), BookTok knows exactly what kind of books I like and will recommend them with videos filled with brilliant reviews and complete gusto. Below you’ll find some of the Simon Teen books that BookTok is recommending you pick up this year!

7 YA Books That BookTok Is Hyped for in 2022

1. So This Is Ever After by F. T. Lukens

Booktok is READY for this queer fantasy that is Carry On meets Arthurian legend. This funny, subversive fantasy is about what happens after the chosen one wins the kingdom and has to get married to keep it…and to stay alive. So This Is Ever After is a total romp and I DARE you not to fall in love with Arek, his best friend Matt, and their whole ragtag group of quest companions.

2. She Gets the Girl by Rachael Lippincott and Alyson Derrick

If you’re not following married writing duo Alyson and Rachael on TikTok (@alysonandrachael), you should be. They’re hilarious, adorable, and all-around wonderful, just like their new book, She Gets the Girl, which is about two girls in their first year of college who agree to help each other find love…and end up falling for each other.

3. See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Anyone who loves Rachel Lynn Solomon’s Today Tonight Tomorrow (and there’s a lot of you on BookTok!) is going to love this new book! See You Yesterday is a magical romance about a girl forced to relive her disastrous first day of college—only to discover that her arch-nemesis is stuck in the time loop with her.

4. The Ones We Burn by Rebecca Mix

Rebecca Mix (@mixbecca) is another must-follow on TikTok, and her hilarious videos have made BookTok READY for The Ones We Burn. This atmospheric queer fantasy is about a witch who is tasked to kill the prince to save her people, only to fall for the prince’s sister!

5. Sofi & the Bone Song by Adrienne Tooley

In this gorgeous, queer standalone fantasy, a young musician sets out to expose her rival for illegal use of magic only to discover the deception goes deeper than she could have imagined. This new read is perfect for all the fans of Adrienne’s previous book, Sweet & Bitter Magic.

6. The Do-Over by Lynn Painter

BookTok LOVES Lynn’s previous YA book, Better Than the Movies, which is like all your fave rom coms in one! In this new riotous romp, a teen girl has the worst Valentine’s Day ever—only to relive it over and over again. Yes! Another time loop book; gimme!

7. Foul Lady Fortune by Chloe Gong

It’s ok to admit we’re all FULLY obsessed with both Chloe Gong (@thechloegong) and her These Violent Delights duology. Foul Lady Fortune is the first book in a captivating new duology from Chloe that follows an ill-matched pair of spies posing as a married couple as they investigate a series of brutal murders in 1930s Shanghai (and yes, one of those spies is Rosalind from TVD!).
