With seemingly everything going wrong in 2020, let’s just say we are more than ready for the end of it. One good thing about 2020 was the amazing books that came out this year. Celebrate the end of this year with a few of our fave reads from 2020!

1. What I Like About You by Marisa Kanter

Can a love triangle have only two people in it? This contemporary romance follows Halle, an awkward new girl having trouble fitting in at a new school. Online though, she runs a popular YA Book blog under a secret alias, Kels: everything Halle wishes she was in real-life. Kels is cool, funny, and has lots of virtual friends, including her best friend, Nash. So, what happens when Nash is a student at her new school? You’ll just have to read this amazing book to find out.

 

2. Rent a Boyfriend by Gloria Chao

Being single during the holidays is tough enough without having the added pressure of traditional Asian parents trying to marry you off. Cozy up and read this romantic comedy about a college student who hires a fake boyfriend to appease her parents, whom she actually starts to fall for.

 

3. Chasing Lucky by Jenn Bennett

This Jenn Bennett YA book is perfect for those trying to find the good, while embracing the bad next year. Find out what happens when a single mother returns to her hometown to run the family bookstore and runs into the town bad boy and her former best friend.

 

4. Legendborn by Tracy Deonn

Start the new year with a bit of magic!  This contemporary fantasy YA book offers the dark allure of City of Bones with a modern-day twist on a classic legend and a lot of Southern Black Girl Magic. Legendborn is a fun, flirty, fantasy thrill ride that you will not be able to put down and will want to chat about endlessly!

 

5. Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Can your worst nemesis become the boy of your dreams? The story follows two rival overachievers whose relationship completely transforms over the course of twenty-four hours. Careful getting sucked-in, you might miss the ball-drop.

 

6. A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow by Laura Taylor Namey

This book was a Reese Witherspoon x Hello Sunshine Book Club YA pick and deservedly so. This feel-good romance, set in the English country side will warm your soul. Not to mention, make you hungry after you read all the delicious food descriptions.
