It’s that time of year again: #RivetedRevealFA17!

We’re SO excited to start showing off some of the great YA you’re going to be reading this Fall! A few of our Fall 17 covers have been making appearances here and there (Did you catch Jason Reynolds’s Long Way Down and Akemi Dawn Bowman’s Starfish?) but now they’re coming fast and furious: each day this week, we’ll be revealing Fall 17 covers, covers you’ve probably not seen yet for books you won’t want to miss!

Most of our reveals this week aren’t necessarily “themed” per se, but today’s reveals do fall pretty solidly under the sci-fi genre. Know what else they have in common? The fate of the world is at stake!

First, we have Zero Repeat Forever from G. S. Prendergast, “a fast-paced, heart-stopping novel about an invasion of murderous creatures and one girl fighting for her life at the end of the world.” The log line for this one is The 5th Wave meets Beauty and the Beast and that alone is intriguing enough for us to add this to our TBR pile!  BONUS: take a close look at the cover below and marvel at the mesmerizing animated .gif goodness! Sweet, right?! If you feel inclined to share it, you’re welcome to: grab it here!

Then we have Freefall from Joshua David Bellin which follows two teens who grow up on a twenty-second century Earth rigidly divided by wealth and race: “Cam is part of the 1%. Sofie is part of the 99%. What will happen when their very separate worlds collide?” We’re looking forward to reading this one, too — based on the book description below, we love the idea of the story taking a leap 1,000 years ahead (damn interstellar travel! Where’s a wormhole when you need it?!) and then trying to solve a mystery from the past!

Read on to hear a little more about these two titles, check out their fantastic covers, and as always, leave a comment and let us know what you think! And stay tuned for more reveals this time tomorrow!

Until a human kills her. . . .

Sixteen-year-old Raven is at summer camp when the terrifying armored Nahx invade. Isolated in the wilderness, Raven and her fellow campers can only stay put. Await rescue. Raven doesn’t like feeling helpless, but what choice does she have?
Then a Nahx kills her boyfriend.

Thrown together in a violent, unfamiliar world, Eighth and Raven should feel only hate and fear. But when Raven is injured, and Eighth deserts his unit, their survival comes to depend on trusting each other. . . .

Freefall by Joshua David Bellin

 About the Book:

In the Upperworld, the privileged 1% are getting ready to abandon a devastated planet Earth. And Cam can’t wait to leave. After sleeping through a 1,000-year journey, he and his friends will have a pristine new planet to colonize. And no more worries about the Lowerworld and its 99% of rejects.

Then Cam sees a banned video feed of protesters in the Lowerworld who also want a chance at a new life. And he sees a girl with golden eyes who seems to be gazing straight though the feed directly at him. A girl he has to find. Sofie.

When Cam finds Sofie, she opens his eyes to the unfairness of what’s happening in their world, and Cam joins her cause for Lowerworld rights. He also falls hard for Sofie. But Sofie has her own battles to fight, and when it’s time to board the spaceships, Cam is alone.

Waking up 1,000 years in the future, Cam discovers that he and his shipmates are far off-course, trapped on an unknown and hostile planet. Who has sabotaged their ship? And does it have anything to do with Sofie, and the choices—and the enemies—he made in the past?

Freefall will be available August 29, 2017!
