Though we posted our Summer 2017 cover reveals back in September, there have still been a handful of upcoming summer titles sporting “Cover to be Revealed” messaging while all of the folks behind the scenes have continued to tweak and fine tune (and sometimes even scrap designs entirely and redesign!). We certainly don’t envy the cover designers, covers are HARD!
Today’s reveal should be our final Summer 2017 reveal (especially since our Fall 2017 reveals are coming later this month!) and it’s a DOOZY! Cristin Terrill’s Here Lies Daniel Tate (Available June 6) is a tense thriller, full of twists and turns, secrets and betrayals; a great choice for fans of E. Lockhart’s We Were Liars (which chances are good you’ve read). What’s the deal? In short, when a homeless, runaway teen stumbles his way into his biggest con yet—assuming the identity of a young boy from a wealthy family that was abducted six years ago—he thinks he’s got it made….until he realizes that maybe the boy isn’t actually missing after all.
This one is definitely riveting, to say the least! And the cover?! Well, we’re pretty sure you’re going to have feels on it one way or the other. Scroll down for a look and then scroll a little further for your first exclusive sneak peek! Then if you’ve made it that far, you might as well add it to your TBR pile on Goodreads and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments!
It seems too good to be true when Daniel Tate, missing since he was abducted from one of California’s most elite private enclaves at the age of ten, turns up on a snowy street in Vancouver six years later. At first too traumatized to speak, he is eventually able to tell the authorities who he is and is reunited with his overjoyed family. In time, they tell him, he’ll recover the memories he’s missing; all that matters is that they have him back.
It’s perfect. A miracle. Except for one thing:
That boy isn’t Daniel Tate.
But he wants to be. A young con artist who’s been taking on false identities for years, this impostor has stumbled onto the scam of a lifetime. Daniel has everything he’s ever dreamed of—wealth, privilege, the chance to make a fresh start, and most importantly, a family that loves him. Now that he’s finally found a place to belong, he doesn’t question his luck.
Until he realizes that maybe Daniel isn’t missing at all. Maybe someone knows what really happened to the boy he’s pretending to be…and if he can’t uncover the truth—he could be next the next Daniel Tate to disappear.
