Yes, you read the title correctly! It’s National Hiking Day!
In theory, I like hiking. You get to exercise, you can really think about and reflect on your life, and you get to fully appreciate the great outdoors! How fantastic! In practice, though, I’ve found that it’s not really for me. I either get hot from all the walking, or I get too cold from the wind. I tend to have to reach for my inhaler embarrassingly often. And do you know how many bugs there are out there?! The answer is A LOT.
That being said, I do still want to celebrate hiking day! I’m just going to do it in my own unconventional way. You see, I happen to really enjoy books about the great outdoors. In fact, one of my favorite books is Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick! It’s thrilling, and exciting, and (unlike me) the main character wants to go on a hike. It also happens to be a free read until November 21st, so you should go check it out!
For the rest of this week, I’ll be reading books about hiking and the great outdoors. See below for my list. In honor of hiking day, consider joining me! If you’re going to or if you think I’ve left out an important book, let me know in the comments!
