A Great and Terrible Beauty

By Libba Bray

It’s 1895, and after the suicide of her mother, 16-year-old Gemma Doyle is shipped off from the life she knows in India to Spence, a proper boarding school in England. Lonely, guilt-ridden, and prone to visions of the future that have an uncomfortable habit of coming true, Gemma’s reception there is a chilly one. To make things worse, she’s been followed by a mysterious young Indian man, a man sent to watch her. But why? What is her destiny? And what will her entanglement with Spence’s most powerful girls—and their foray into the spiritual world—lead to?

This series is amazing, you can’t stop reading after the first chapter

I definitely agree about the “Lunar Chronicles” becoming a movie series or TV special. The characters are interesting, different. I am just afraid they would ruin it with too much violence. I think that could be toned down and not ruin the story line.

Yay! I’ve read most of these, or they’re on my TBR list! I’m not sure about Gone, as it got a little dark & depressing for me. Uglies and Lunar Chronicles would be awesome for some younger heroes on TV!

  4. I actually do think that The Inheritance Cycle would make a great TV series if they did it right. They’d have to get the right atmosphere though, especially after they massacred Eragon at the theaters.

I’d love to see Illuminae as a TV show. That would be insanely cool and terrifying. So freaking terrifying.

I agree that The Lunar Chronicles would be an amazing TV series. The characters are perfect role models and are very interesting. It would be cool if they got the plot right, though.

I received this book as a gift so I felt obliged to read it. While the plot line was relatively interesting it wasn’t enough to keep me on the edge of my seat begging for more. To be honest, I was really quite bored with this book. I couldn’t wait to finish it just so that I could read something that was interesting and with a little more substance.
