It’s the sixth and FINAL day of our cover reveals! (#RivetedRevealFA17)

We saved the fantasies for last! First we’ve got Siege of Shadows, the second book in Sarah Raughley’s Effigies series. In the first book, Fate of Flames, four girls known as the Effigies, each with the power to control the elements, had to come together to save the world from a terrible evil. In the follow-up, Siege of Shadows, the Effigies are back and on a search to seek out the true origins of the phantoms that have been terrorizing their world. As Kirkus said of Book 1, “This series opener has it all: strong females, intrigue, a dash of romance, monsters, and a sequel in the wings.” Now that the sequel’s on its way, we can’t wait to see what it has in store!

Next up is An Enchantment of Ravens, a debut novel from Margaret Rogerson. Now, we’re pretty confident the unbelievably gorgeous cover art is going to be enough to get folks to pick this one up but you probably want to know what it’s about too, right?  Here’s the gist: A skilled painter must stand up to the ancient power of the faerie courts—even as she falls in love with a faerie prince—with only her brush in hand. You want more already, right?!

Last but not least, we’ve got Last Star Burning from debut author Caitlin Sangster. In this start to a brand new series, seventeen-year-old Sev is forced to run away from the only home she’s ever known to escape execution for a crime she didn’t commit.  This one’s a fantasy for genre and non-genre fans alike, focusing on unforgettable characters as they struggle to survive in a hostile world.

Now make your way down the page to take in these covers and find out more about these books!  Links to add them on Goodreads are below if you’re so inclined but rest assured, you’ll be hearing a lot more about each of them this fall on Riveted! And just in case you missed any of our #RivetedRevealFA17 posts from earlier this week…..

The Effigies #2: Siege of Shadows by Sarah Raughley

Siege-REveal

About the Book:

There’s nowhere to hide.

Not when you’re an Effigy. No matter where they go, Maia and the other Effigies can’t escape the eyes of the press—especially not after failing to capture Saul, whose power to control the monstrous Phantoms has left the world in a state of panic. It’s been two months since Saul’s disappearance, and there’s still no sign of him, leaving the public to wonder whether the Sect—and the Effigies—are capable of protecting anyone.

When Saul suddenly surfaces in the middle of the Sahara desert, the Sect sends Maia and her friends out after him. But instead of Saul, they discover a dying soldier engineered with Effigy-like abilities. And although this soldier seems to answer to Saul, Maia can’t help but wonder if Saul has outside help.

Yet the looming danger of Saul and this mysterious new army doesn’t overshadow Maia’s fear of the Sect, who ordered the death of the previous Fire Effigy, Natalya. With enemies on all sides and the world turning against them, the Effigies have to put their trust in each other—easier said than done when secrets threaten to tear them apart.

Siege of Shadows will be available November 21, 2017!

An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

EnchantmentOfRavens_Cover[6][4]

About the Book:

Isobel is a prodigy portrait artist with a dangerous set of clients: the sinister fair folk, immortal creatures who cannot bake bread, weave cloth, or put a pen to paper without crumbling to dust. They crave human Craft with a terrible thirst, and Isobel’s paintings are highly prized. But when she receives her first royal patron—Rook, the autumn prince—she makes a terrible mistake. She paints mortal sorrow in his eyes – a weakness that could cost him his life.

Furious and devastated, Rook spirits her away to the autumnlands to stand trial for her crime. Waylaid by the Wild Hunt’s ghostly hounds, the tainted influence of the Alder King, and hideous monsters risen from barrow mounds, Isobel and Rook depend on one another for survival. Their alliance blossoms into trust, then love, violating the fair folks’ ruthless Good Law. To save both their lives, Isobel must drink from the Green Well, whose water will transform her into a fair one—at the cost of her Craft, for immortality is as stagnant as it is timeless.

Isobel has a choice: does she sacrifice her art for a future, or arm herself with paint and canvas against the  ancient power of the fairy courts. Because secretly, her Craft represents a threat the fair folk have never faced in all the millennia of their unchanging lives: for the first time, her portraits have the power to make them feel.

An Enchantment of Ravens will be available September 26, 2017!

Last Star Burning by Caitlin Sangster

LastStar-Reveal

About the Book:

Sev has been tattooed with the White stars of a criminal since she was eight. That’s the penalty for being the daughter of the woman who betrayed their entire nation.

Now her mother’s body is displayed above Traitor’s Arch, kept in a paralyzed half-sleep by the same plague that destroyed the rest of the world. And as further punishment, Sev must do hard labor to prove that she’s more valuable alive than dead.

When the government blames Sev for a horrific bombing, she must escape the city or face the chopping block. Unimaginable dangers lurk outside the city walls, and Sev’s only hope of survival lies with the most unlikely person—Howl, the chairman’s son. Though he promises to lead her to safety, Howl has secrets, and Sev can’t help but wonder if he knows more about her past—and her mother’s crimes—than he lets on.

But in a hostile world, trust is a luxury. Even when Sev’s life and the lives of everyone she loves may hang in the balance.

Last Star Burning will be available October 10, 2017!
