It’s week two of our spotlight on New York Times bestselling author Ellen Hopkins! Last week, we kicked off the month with Burned, Ellen’s novel about a teen-aged girl and her struggle to find love and acceptance. This week, our featured Ellen title is Tricks, following five troubled teenagers who fall into prostitution as they search for freedom, safety, community, and family. It’s a story about making choices, taking leaps of faith, falling down, and growing up; a story about kids figuring out what sex and love are all about…at all costs.

On the other end of the spectrum, this week we’re also featuring Lisa Maxwell’s Unhooked, a lush, atmospheric fantasy novel filled with twists and turns about a girl who is kidnapped and brought to an island inhabited by fairies, a roguish ship captain, and bloodthirsty beasts.

And of course, last week’s reads are still available for a few more days: Ellen Hopkins’s aforementioned Burned, plus extended excerpts of Kara Lee Corthron’s debut novel The Truth of Right Now and Sarah Fine’s fantasy novel The Impostor Queen.
