In honor of our Summer of Nerds, the Riveted Editorial Board shared what our dream cosplay character would be for Comic Con if budget was not an issue. Our answers spanned all different fandoms, for all different reasons. What would your dream cosplay be? Let us know in the comments!
Sarah: I would cosplay as Commander Lexa from The 100. Because EYE MAKEUP.
Julie: I’d go as Luna Lovegood because I’m 500% Ravenclaw, and I may have already spent too much time making dirigible plum earrings.
Sarah Jane: I’d definitely go as Ygritte from Game of Thrones because we have matching ginger hair and all of those furs are perfect for chilly air conditioned convention centers. Also, how fun is it to go around telling people they know nothing?
Aubrey: I would cosplay as Carol from The Walking Dead. She’s not only a caring mother hen who takes care of the group, but she has the ability to fight and survive on her own. She can also bake a mean batch of cookies.
Keri: I would love to cosplay as Holly Golightly from Breakfast At Tiffany’s. She’s so glamorous and independent, but also such a lost little soul, with so much left to figure out. Her character resonated with me when I read the book, and who wouldn’t love an excuse to dress up like Audrey Hepburn?
Tara: If I had an unlimited budget, I would absolutely be Tessa Gray from Cassandra Clare’s The Infernal Devices series. (Her dress is amazeballs.) Victorian cosplay can get super expensive, but it would be so fun to do. Plus, not only is she badass and beautiful, but she gets Will Herondale.
Natascha: I would totally go as Belle, because duh! But I would splurge on this dad to make it. And if you are working a publishing booth, you should represent as one of the most book loving characters.
Mekisha: If I was going to cosplay as someone for Comic Con it would be Garnet from Steven Universe. Not only is she tall, stunning, and mysterious, she has a heart as big as her hair and I adore her.
Janine: I would dress up as Sailor Moon because I am a badass woman and so is she. She also has cute style without being overly revealing, or requiring me to wear heels.
Chelsea: I’d cosplay as Rey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I’m sure this will be a top pick and fairly frequently seen choice this year, because… really… who wouldn’t want to cosplay as Rey after seeing Force Awakens? But I love her story, I love how she doesn’t take anyone’s shit, and I love that she’s the one the lightsaber belongs to. And I’m sure her character is only going to get more awesome in the next movies.
